The 2026 Hollywoodbets 10km has officially launched, promising increased prize money, enhanced runner experience, and a major digital upgrade set to transform race registration.
South Africa’s richest road race is back – and bigger than ever. The 2026 Hollywoodbets 10km has officially launched, promising increased prize money, enhanced runner experience, and a major digital upgrade set to transform race registration.
This year’s race will see winners in both the men’s and women’s categories take home R40 000 and continue extending prize money to the top 10 finishers including age categories up to 70 plus – further reinforcing the event’s commitment to rewarding elite performance while uplifting the broader community.
Speaking at the launch, Hollywood Athletics Club Manager Brett Goodwin outlined the vision for the 2026 edition, highlighting the race’s rapid growth and national appeal.
“We are excited about how much the Hollywoodbets 10km has grown. Each year we see more runners joining us from Durban and across the country. This year, we are expecting 15 000 entries in Durban and 10 000 in Johannesburg, said Goodwin.
Beyond elite competition, accessibility remains central to the race’s success.
“What matters for us is keeping the race open and accessible to everyone, whether you are running with a club or joining as a temporary licence holder. Families are a big part of this event too. Last year, 40% of our runners were temporary license holders, and we love seeing that mix, he added.
Now firmly established as a standout fixture in the South African road running calendar, the Hollywood-bets 10km continues to inject energy into both Durban and Johannesburg, driving local economic activity and community participation.
A key announcement at the launch of the brand new Hollywoodbets 10km race registration website, de-signed to significantly improve sign-ups.
“This new platform makes sign-up simpler and more runner friendly. Runners will get better communication, quicker updates, and an all-round easier registration experience.”
The website was built with strong support from BET Software, who played a central role in developing and optimising the technology behind the platform.
“BET Software really drove the innovation on this project. Their technical expertise helped us build something that’s efficient and user friendly. It ties directly into the Hollywood Group’s commitment to innovation and investing back into the athletics ecosystem,” he added.
Runners can sign up through the new race registration website going live on 1 April 2026.
Entry fees remain affordable for both licensed and unlicensed runners, ranging between R180-R250 with options for the 10km and the 5km fun run.
Whether you are chasing a personal best or just looking for a fun, healthy day out with family and friends, the 2026 Hollywoodbets 10km promises a fast route, great vibes, and an even better race experience.
