Hollywood Athletics Club Purple Star, Neheng Khatala, targets Totalsports Women’s Race Durban

Hollywood Athletics Club Elite, Neheng Khatala, is set to return to one of her favourite road races this weekend when she toes the line at the Durban edition of the Totalsports Women’s 10km, aiming to continue her impressive record at the iconic Women’s Month event.

The Lesotho international has established herself as one of the race’s most consistent performers in recent years, producing outstanding performances against some of Africa’s leading distance runners on Durban’s fast and scenic course that takes in the Durban beachfront along the way.

Khatala enjoyed an excellent race in 2025, securing a podium finish in 3^rd running a time of 32:03, while she also delivered a strong 5^th in 2024, clocking 32:01 against another highly competitive international field.

Having already produced encouraging performances this season, Khatala is eager to once again test herself against a quality field as she looks to build on her impressive history in Durban.

“The Totalsports Women’s Race is always one of the highlights of my racing calendar,” said Khatala. “I enjoy competing in Durban because the atmosphere is incredible and the support from the spectators gives you so much energy throughout the race. I’ve had some really good memories at this event over the past few years, and I’m looking forward to racing again on Sunday. The competition will be strong, but I have prepared well and I’m excited to see what I can achieve and maybe we can go under 32 minutes.”

Hollywood Athletics Club Elite Team Manager, Manfred Seidler believes Khatala’s consistency at the event and her international experience makes her one of the athletes to watch.

“Neheng has developed an excellent record at the Totalsports Women’s Race and continues to prove herself against world-class opposition. She is an incredibly consistent athlete who enjoys racing in Durban, and we know she will once again give everything in pursuit of another outstanding result. As one of Hollywood Athletics Club’s Elite Purple Stars, Khatala will once again proudly represent the purple movement as she takes on one of South Africa’s premier women’s road races. With her proven ability on Durban’s fast streets and her impressive record at the event, she will be aiming to add another memorable performance to her growing Totalsports Women’s Race résumé and target another podium finish.
